The Church "St. Michael the Archangel" is situated in Varbeshnitsa village. The village is a part of Mezdra minicipality. Varbeshnitsa is a few kilometers far from Mezdra. During 1861 – 1862, in the village were housed Turkish soldiers, almost 20 families. Local people were forced to give them their best land to build their homes and even make their mosque.  Then came the idea that  they could have their own church. "St. Archangel Michael "church was built in 1876.  In 1941 a plan was made to build a new solid church to replace the old one, the walls of which were made of wattle plastered with mud. The new church – chapel is just a new building on the foundations of the old church "St. Archangel Michael".
